October 2022 walk

October’s walk for 2022 will be the last walk for the year but one to look forward to as it’s one of our ever popular fungus forays. The walk will be at Haugh wood and will be lead by local expert Jo Weightman. Please note the earlier than usual start time!

We will meet Jo Weightman, our mycologist guide, at 10.30am in the main wood car park at SO592365 / SO5922236560. Nearest post code is HR1 4QX. The best route in is uphill along the road through the wood from Mordiford and to the car park on the left at the top. Bring a packed lunch. We will walking around on woodland tracks and under trees, and over grassland at Joan’s Orchard. Mostly fairly level ground with some shallow slopes.
There are few fungi at present, due to dry weather, but hopefully it will be better by the 15^th after recent rains. It’s a nice walk in lovely woodland with good views even if things don’t much get better mycologically.
